Of Course the Moon is Full

All we’ve ever shared was a class together,
one common textbook and a few hours
from time to time, between 2:00
and 5:00 AM. I don’t mean to be moved by him,

to care how lightly the hair curls
up his chest, to catch his back’s muscled surface
reflected in my mirror. But of course

the moon is full—it would be—
of course this animal in me, of course these wild tides—

Watch how he kisses me.
Look how my face brightens.
